Must Have for Oily Skin

You know that look; when you glance in the mirror mid day and see it:  The dreaded shiny t-zone.  My first instinct is to aggressively rub my face into a towel and curse my oily skin.  However, I resist that urge and go to my second line of defense: oil blotting sheets.

Face Secrets says:  Controls and removes excess dirt without disturbing makeup.  Helps stop makeup from turning orange.  Keeps makeup fresh-looking with a “just applied” look for hours.  Prevents build-up caused from using powder to absorb excess oil.  150  sheets/ $2.99 with Sally’s Card.  $3.49 without.

There are several oil blotting sheets out on the market, I believe ‘ol Clean and Clear were the first on the market.  I found these at Sally Beauty Supply and decided to give them a try.  The price tag for the quantity was hard to pass up!

Each sheet measures 2.5in across and 3.5in long.  They sheets are very simple to use, press on to any oily area of the face (without rubbing) and remove.  Apply a clean area of the sheet to another area of the face.

These are much cheaper than other brands, and just as effective.  I believe they are made out of the same thing as disposable toilet seat covers (which also work, if you’ve ever tried it…).

Where:  Sally Beauty Supply or here online.  Price:  $2.99 with Sally’s Card, $3.49 without.

What’s your favorite remedy for oily skin?  Do you use blotting sheets?

  1. I used to use the blotting sheets because I thought they were cool, but I’d always have to use like 3 at one time because I had so much oil!
I was always one of those people that had to wash my face 3 times a day just to wash away the oil.
Then I started using tea tree oil (diluted with water) in the morning after my shower, and it keeps the oil away completely! I now only wash my face in the mornings. Not sure if I’m supposed to at night, but I don’t…

    • That great that you’ve found something that works for you! Tea tree oil is a great antiseptic!

  2. Those FS sheets are huge! I honestly don’t get facial film blotters. They are tiny and you have to use so many of them to get your entire face blotted out. And they feel oily and disgusting.

It’s getting tougher to find big nice o’ paper blotters like FS these days.

    • Right? I hate buying expensive ones when you have to use more than one :(
