Maybelline Dream Fresh Beauty Balm, Review

Maybelline says: The 1-step wonder for a good skin day, everyday. Packed with 8 great skin benefits for instant skin perfection. Ideal for Normal Skin. Blurs imperfections.  Brightens.  Evens skin tone.  Smoothes.  Hydrates.  Enhances.  Protects with SPF 30.  0% oils and heavy ingredients.  $8.99 for 1.0oz.

Overall:  It has light coverage but still gives the skin a nice glow.  My biggest issue is that it makes me very shiny after 2 hours.  Maybelline says this is for “normal” skin, therefore according to them it’s not ideal for oily skin types (I’m an oily gal).  It doesn’t do everything that is says in the description (particularly the blur imperfections), and it’s not near as hydrating as a tinted moisturizer.  I’d recommend for normal skin types looking for something with light coverage and no fuss application.

Glitter Rating: 3 / 5

For additional pics and detailed review,

Packaging:  A tube measuring 4.5 in tall and 1.5in across.  You just squeeze out the product.

Color:  It comes in 5 shades, I have the middle shade (medium).

Formula:  It has enough coverage to give my skin some color, but not enough to cover any blemishes or dark circles.  It takes about 3 minutes to set, before then it looks dewy and feels almost wet.  It gives my skin a nice glow.  After 2 hours I am shine city, my face looks like a silver dollar.  I tried wearing this several ways, with and without moisturizer underneath, with setting powder and without.  The setting powder helped the shine a little bit, but I was still left with silver dollar shiny face after a few hours.  Maybelline says that this is ideal for “normal skin,” and since I have oily skin I guess this isn’t an “ideal” product for me.

Longevity:  2 hours before it gets shiny of my oily skin.  After blotting, it takes off some of the product so I can’t give an accurate time of when this color starts to fade.

Application:  To get the best coverage, apply with your fingers.  A dime sized amount covers the face and jawline.

Where:  Any Maybelline retailer or here online.  Price:  $8.99 for 1.0oz.

  1. I was so excited when I saw that Maybelline had come out with a BB Cream. I love the Garnier Fructise one, but this one left my skin shiny, but at the same dried it out and caused me some major breakouts. Definitely a disappointment. :(

    • I’ve heard mixed things about the Garnier one. That sticks that it didn’t work out :( Have you tried Maybelline yet?

      • Unfortunately that one didn’t work out for me either :( It had the same effect and the color range was not light enough for my skin tone. If you have any suggestions for tinted moisturizers for fair, sensitive skin, let me know!
