A lip color for Grandma?

23 Oct

It’s the OCC Lip Tar in Grandma.

OCC says: Flash a fabulous smile and a stunning splash of color with this lip formula that combines the longevity of a lipstick with the breezy application of a gloss. The rich pigment will drench your pout and the blend of essential oils, including hemp and peppermint, will soothe and soften the skin for a supremely comfortable finish.  DIRECTIONS: Apply the tiniest bead of Lip Tar with our newly-included #010S Short-Handled Precision Lip Brush for complete, opaque coverage, either mixed with other shades or on its own. Applying too much product can result in feathering outside the lipline, so remember: a little goes a very long way!

These have been around from quite some time and have earned quite a good reputation.  Known for their pigmentation and longevity, makeup lovers around the country were excited to hear that these were going to be sold at Sephoras nationwide.  I have no clue why they named this bright coral “Grandma,” it’s a very pretty color but not quite “Grandma” friendly.  Guess that depends on your grandma, I suppose.

Overall
It definitely lives up to its reputation.  The vegan and cruelty-free formula is very unique, it’s a combination of a lipstick and a lip gloss.  Because it’s so pigmented, application requires a little more finesse than a traditional gloss.  Simply swiping it across your lips will not do, you need to put it on with a lip brush.  I put a tiny bead on the back of my hand and paint it on my lips from there.  Make sure to apply to clean, moisturized, dry lips.  If your lips are peeling/flaking/have any sort of flaw, they will be amplified x10 if you put this over it.  When first applied it looks glossy, but then it dries to a matte/satin finish, after a few hours it becomes more of a stain.  Overall, it lasts for 6-8 hours.  I love this stuff, I will definitely be picking up some more!
