Red Carpet Recap: Oscars 2013

Sooo… who watched the big show last night?

Jennifer Garner in Gucci

She looks really stunning in this color, and I love the big ruffles in the back.  She looks like she didn’t try to hard, but just happened to come out looking fabulous.  I loved seeing her get so excited for her husbands big win!

Stacy Keibler in Naeem Khan

I only know her as Clooney’s main squeeze, other than that I have no idea why she is famous.  She looks stunning, nonetheless.  It looks like she’s wearing a bunch of necklaces.  Tacky?  A little.  But I’m a little tacky myself, so I approve.

Amy Adams in Oscar De La Renta

It’s difficult for a grown woman to pull off a ball gown, it’s easy to look like you’re 15 years late for the prom.  However, Amy’s petite figure can pull off all of these ruffles.  This is classic De La Renta, it reminds me of when Carrie went to Paris in SATC.  She looks elegant and gorgeous, and it kind of makes me want to put of a poofy dress right now.

On the fence

The following looks I didn’t necessarily dislike or love.  I’m just sort of… on the fence about them.

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu

There is no doubt that Kerry looks beautiful.  I love the color of this and her hair and makeup are both flawless.  However, this dress reminds me of something I’d see at Dillards in the prom dress isle.  In fact, if you go back and look at pictures from my high school prom I’m pretty sure you’d see girls wearing dresses similar to this.

Jennifer Aniston in Valentino

I love Jennifer, and I really do love this gown on her.  My problem was her hair!  I wish she would’ve put some curl in it, or even a simple updo.  I feel like this gown deserves more than just her every day hair.

Not so favorites

Zoe Saldana in Alexis Mabille

Ok, Zoe is gorgeous no matter what.  However, I felt like this was just a tad over accessorized.  The flowers, the earrings, the rhinestone belt, the rings, the detailing on the train… it’s nothing that I think “OMG she looks awful,” I just think she could’ve done better.  I also think she needs to eat a cheeseburger.

Anne Hathaway in Prada

Two words:  Unfortunate darting.  She looked like she had Madonna cone boobs from the side.  I don’t like the neckline and the fabric looks wrinkled.  I did like it okay in the back (loved the necklace).  And that’s about it.

Drum roll please… it’s time for the best and worst!

Best Dressed

Halle Berry in Versace

So, I was watching the red carpet interviews when Halle popped up on the screen.  I saw the top of the gown first, then the camera panned out to reveal the entire gown.  My jaw dropped.  I just said, “yes!”  I just love everything about this (and her).  It’s structured, unique, and it makes her already fantastic figure look even more fantastic.  The square shoulder really balances everything out.  I love this, I love this, I love this. Yes.

Worst Dressed

Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra

I applaud her for rocking the crutches on the red carpet.  And this dress would’ve maybe hit the right note if it actually fit her.  From the side it looked like it was falling off of her.  And we all know K Stew is tiny, but her figure looks almost log-like in the pictures.  This dress reminds me of the dress Cady wears in Mean Girls when she is an “ex-wife.”

And I can’t end this without mentioning my absolute FAVORITE moment of the entire (ahem 3 hour) show:

Harry Potter Daniel Radcliffe himself performed in one of the opening numbers.  I love him.  So much.  HP4LIFE.

Do you agree or disagree with my picks?

Who were some of your favorites from the 2013 Oscars?

I loved Halle’s dress too! Overall I thought the fashion was underwhelming. I want more color and crazy and better fits/hair for almost everyone!

    • Agreed. And truth be told, I loved Halle’s dress but I’m ready for some new hair from her. I’m over it.

  2. I love Amy Adams, I’m a sucker for movies like Enchanted. However, I’m not a fan of the feathers. My favorite is Aniston’s gown. Simply and beautiful.

    • Seriously, Jen is such an inspiration. I hope I look half as good as her when I’m in my 40’s!
