What I’ve been up to: February 2013

I can’t believe it’s the last day of February!  This year is already flying by.  Oh, and guess what?

Today is my BIRTHDAY!

Birthday comments are expected welcome.  I have the day off from work so I’ll probably be drinking relaxing all day.

I started the month off with my first wedding of 2013.  I did makeup for a lovely bridal party.  It’s’ such an honor to be a part of someone’s special day!

Probably the most exciting I did this month was Sephora SOS (science of Sephora) training.  Sephora sent me to Salt Lake City, Utah for 5 days with another artist from my store.  We got to be roomies and ended up becoming good friends :)

I got to meet girls and boys from other stores from all over the US.  There was a total of about 50 people.  I’m limited on what I can show you from the actual training, but here’s some of the lovely friends that I made :)

Our hotel had a free wine hour, which we took full advantage of.

Fabulousness on the right. Me on the left.

This was randomly at the table that I sat at on the last day. Pretty sure it made my day.

Loved our hotel. Ignore the large bottle on the nightstand…

Utah was snowy and cold. It was actually warmer in KC when I was there.

It was really cool to be around so many other people who love the cosmetics world.  Entire conversations would revolve around the new Josie Maran Argan Cream or whether we love or hate the new MUFE Pro Finish powder.  These are the things that matter, people.

After shopping and eating at the downtown mall.

On Fat Tuesday, I decided to celebrate Mardi Gras by attempting to cook.  This is kind of a big deal because I’m a disaster in the kitchen.  We’re talking, I’ve messed up Easy Mac and microwave oatmeal.

My jambalaya turned out really good! So proud!

Pinterest inspired me to make a cake.  I found this 3 ingredient low-fat one and decided to give it a go.

Orange dreamsicle cake, which also turned out delicious.

Now, if you live in the midwest, you are well aware of this term : Snowmageddon.  We have had almost 20 inches of snow within a week.  During the worst storm, I was out driving.  Why?  Because the mall actually thought we would have people out shopping.  Shortly after I arrived to work in the morning, I was sent home and my usual 15 minute drive took 2 hours.

Since I’ve been snowed in, I’ve been really productive.  I’ve been doing things like: Depotting lipstick.  Tutorial here.

Practice highlighting and contouring.

And playing with my new airbrush foundations.

So, as  you can see, I do very important things when I have time to myself.  Some might argue that my ability to highlight and contour will change the world.

February has been a good month, a little more laid back since I’ve graduated school.  I take my boards next month (eek!).  Wish me luck!

Daydreaming Sabrina.

How was your February?
