Reviva Labs says: Under makeup or alone the visible, touchable results are beautiful! Over moisturizer or directly on clean skin, apply just a drop on forehead, each cheek and above jaw line. Massage in lightly over entire face. Allow product to absorb. Then apply makeup. You’ll love the smooth, velvety feel and look. Men, of course, can use it directly on skin. Perfects skin by refining the texture. Fills in lines, conceals pores, and controls excess oil. Helps skin instantly look and feel smooth and silky. Helps makeup foundation last longer (safe under eye shadow, too). And COQ10 adds protective antioxidant action. Our Makeup Primer is good for any skin type, even oily. You get the oil control you want, along with soft, supple skin. Completely fragrance-free and non-comedogenic (which means it won’t cause clogged pores and breakouts).
Count ’em: 1) Cyclopentasiloxane 2) Dimethicone 3) Vitamin A Palmitate 4) Vitamin D3, (Cholecalciferol) 5) Olive Oil 6) Coenzyme Q10 7) Squalane. SEVEN, SEVEN, SEVEN…. seven… *Monica Friends reference*
Lets break these down. The first two ingredients are types of silicone, so they are what gives the product some “slip” when it’s on the skin. It also prevents it from clogging your pores. The third ingredient is derived from retinol, so it helps with cell turnover on the skin. The fourth ingredient is common in products that treat dry skin. Olive oil also helps with the skins moisture (in small doses). The great CoQ10 helps with repair and regeneration. And lastly, Squalane. PTR just came out with a product that’s 100% Squalane oil, and according to him it “Helps fortify the skin’s lipid barrier to improve the look of fine lines, wrinkles, elasticity, and radiance.” The palmitate and vitamin d3 can make your skin slightly more sensitive to the sun’s UV rays, to be sure to wear SPF with this.
I use a full pump to cover my entire face. The first thing I noticed: the SILKY texture. That’s right, capital letters. It effortlessly glides right over my skin, leaving a soft matte finish. I’ve worn several foundations over it, from powder to liquid formulas and it proved to work very well, giving me a 8-9 hour face. Depending on what foundation that I wear, it does help control my oily face to a point. However I found that when I wore it with powders I had to blot within 3 hours. This feels very similar to Smashbox Photo Finish (which isn’t surprising, the first two ingredients are the same) but the Reviva Labs has a slightly silkier texture (and lower price tag).
