L'Occitane Brightening Hand Care

L’Occitane says:  The Brightening Hand Care SPF 15 contains immortelle essential oil to stimulate collagen production to fill in wrinkles, daisy extract to even skintone and reduce age spots, and UV filters to protect hands against harmful effects of sun rays.

One of my very first posts on this blog was about hand cream.  I cringe when I go back and read it, it’s so poorly written that it’s embarrassing.  However, I did choose a favorite 2 years ago, and that favorite still stands true:  L’Occitane.

This hand cream is different from their original formula, which is packed with shea butter.  This formula contains immortelle essential oil, which is derived from a flower.

Immortale is an everlasting flower: it never fades, even after it has been picked.  It’s organic essential oil has unique anti-aging properties. {source}

In fact, L’Occitane has an entire skincare line based off of this unique flower (I really like the foam cleanser).  After applying I do see an instant brightening effect.  It’s gives a sheer iridescent glow to the backs of my hands.  It claims to reduce the appearance of age spots, but since I don’t have any hyperpigmentation on my hands I cannot speak to those claims.  My favorite thing about this is that it has… wait for it… SPF!!!  SPF, in a hand cream, hallelujah!  A lot of people don’t remember to put SPF on their hands and our hands have a ton of sun exposure which in turn, makes them age like crazy.  The formula dries down quickly and is non-greasy (you’ll still be able to grip those doorknobs!).  This one doesn’t contain shea butter, so it’s not as moisturizing as the other beloved L’Occitane hand creams.

Overall
It’s a good every day hand lotion that does give an instant brightening effect.  It’s not at all greasy, but also not quite as moisturizing as the original L’Occitane formula (with the absence of shea butter).  I LOVE that it has SPF in it, more hand creams should have it!

  1. Looks like something I should check out when next at Sephora. I have soooooo many tubes of hand cream (at nearly 57 y.o. I’m now focused – like a laser beam – on every emerging wrinkle)and thus far, my favorite has been Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream. Ever try it, Kayla? Fabulous stuff. I use it sparingly, which means maybe once a week. LOL. It is insanely pricey at $30, but I buy it once a year from the Clarins warehouse sale for half price.

    • 57? Wowza! I haven’t tried to Clarins ones, but I’ll definitely be taking home a sample next time I’m at work! Thanks for the tip!
