L’Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Blush, Review

1 Oct

L’Oreal says: This revolutionary souffle texture is extremely luxurious with an innovative air-whipped souffle texture that delivers an instant flush of color and blends seamlessly.  $12.95 for 0.3oz.

Overall:  I had a hard time getting this to show up on my cheeks after blending it in.  Layering it caused it to get a little weird, like I was trying to layer a powder.  It’s very soft and smooth.  Dry skin types, steer clear of this.  If you have combo/oily skin and are looking for a very sheer blush, this would work for you.

Glitter Rating: 2 / 5

$7 MAC Paint Pots?

28 Feb

It seems like I’m always in a hurry in the mornings.  After I get done washing my face, I slap some primer on my face and lids, throw on some random colors from my Naked Palette and finish the rest in the car.  Wouldn’t it be nice to find an eyeshadow that’s also a primer?  Well, I’ve found just that.

Lets take a look!  It may save you a few precious minutes in your rushed mornings! (more…)

Fresh Faced with Neutragena

26 Jan

Did you know that Thursday is my least favorite day of the week?  I really don’t know why, but I just loathe Thursdays.  I don’t even like the word.. Thursday… barf.

Well, at least I always have affordable drugstore products to cheer me up!  Check out this amazing product from Neutrogena!

Is it enough to get rid of my Thursday blues?   (more…)

Two Handy Tools from Sonia Kashuk

23 Jan

I don’t know why, but I insist on carrying 12-15 lip products on me at all times.  You never know when you’ll need to spontaneously put on red lipstick or need a light pink gloss.  What else do I carry in my purse?  These two bad boys.

It’s one of those things where once I got them, I wondered how I ever functioned without them.  Check it out! (more…)

Monistat Chafing Gel vs. Smashbox Photo Finish Primers

20 Dec

These two products are said to be very similar, even some people on MakeupAlley would argue that they’re exactly the same.  While the chafing gel is obviously not meant to be used as a primer, someone, somewhere, somehow decided to use this on their face.  And isn’t it always great to find a great beauty product with a low price tag?  So to say that this $7 gel works the same as the Smashbox $36 primer… is it too good to be true?

*Please note, that is a sample size of the Smashbox

Lets find out! (more…)

Affordable Drugstore Moisturizer, Olay!

13 Dec

I love skin care.  I love drug store products.  It’s only natural that these two would mate.

I have a lot of high-end skin care that I love, but I get more satisfaction over finding something that’s affordable and effective.  This would explain why I get a rush from walking through the make up/skin care isles at Target.  Seriously, it comforts me.

After reading great reviews about the Olay Complete All Day UV Moisturizer, I decided to finally get it.

And for less than 8 bucks, I really didn’t have that much to lose.

Hand Cream Haul

15 Nov

I’m somewhat addicted to hand creams.  There’s just something about having soft hands and a nice manicure that makes me feel ultra feminine.  My mission to find the best lotion to make my phalanges feel like butta has led me to this post.

Here’s a large part of my collection, just to give you an idea of how much research I’ve done.

I did include my favorite hand treatment in this photo because the lotion (the last step of the treatment) was taken into consideration for this post. However, since this is strictly about hand creams, the entire treatment was not taken to account.  A hand treatment post is sure to follow though :)

Out of all the handcreams out on the market, it’s hard to figure out which ones to buy.  I typically purchase mine based upon reviews and price.  There were certain things I liked about each one of these, and certain ones that I didn’t like.  I’m not going to go over each lotion and salve individually, I’m just going to give you my two favorites, a budget friendly one and a high end one.

Sonia Kashuk does a fine job celebrating breast cancer awareness

7 Oct

Sonia Kashuk and Susan G. Komen have more in common than their initials…

I keep strolling by this brush set at my local Target and convincing myself not to buy it.  I mean… I guess I don’t NEED it… but it’s so dang cute.  I think if it’s still there on Sunday I’ll take the plunge.

Battle of the: Rose Products

4 Oct

On my mission to find all things that make skin soft, I invested in some salves and balms to help me on my journey. They are a bit more hydrating than regular lotions, yet tend to be a little bit more sticky and thick.

Here are two products that are seemingly very similar, but oh only if it were that simple…

See who won this knock down drag out balttle…  (more…)

One Lemon Sugar Scrub = citrus heaven

4 Oct

As the seasons change from summer to fall, my allergies like to change with it.  Just as I’m starting to miss the hot summer days in my sundress and wedges, the autumn greets me with a snotty nose and watery eyes.  Oh, joy.

This lead me to my local Target the other day to scope out some allergy pills.  I strolled into the store on a mission, no intention of stopping by the cosmetics isle….  I decide to walk through the bath isle instead.  I mean, it’s on the way to the pharmacy anyway…

To my delight I see a bunch of orange clearance stickers on the “One” bath and body products.  This brands selling point is not only the natural ingredients, but also their eco-conscious packaging.  I’m sold.

I picked up a lemon scented sugar scrub.  I’ve been longing for the Burt’s Bees Cranberry and Pomegranate Sugar Scrub for quite some time now, but seeing how it’s $13 for 8oz and the One was on sale for $6 for the same amount of product… I’m sold.
